Horse Weekend Overnight Camp

Class Description
A fun filled weekend for you "Horse Lovers" to play with our horses. The camp will begin like our Advanced Horsemanship Day Camp, which is not required before do this camp.
Prerequisite though is the Basic Horsemanship Day Camp, and pre-approval by our staff. We hope you'll remember what we taught you and can now practice it all. This will include the haltering, leading, grooming, tacking up and then riding. Followed by the cooling out and feeding.
We'll start with an introductary ride working on proper posture, cueing and gaits. A horse Obstacle Course will be used to make it interesting and to measure your progress. Then we'll hit the road for a Trail Ride.
Dinner will be a Chuck Wagon type Dutch Oven affair like the Cowboys of yesteryear would experience on the trail. Bring your own lunches for both days. Dinner Sat. and Breakfast Sun. are provided. Camp and songs will conclude the first day.
Bring your bed roll (& cot if you want) to sleep around the campfire or in the barn.
Day two will be lots of riding. The weekend will be concluded with our fun and games rodeo
Space is limited since each person will need their own horse for the weekend, so register early. Extra classes can be scheduled if need. Class limit 6-8. Age 10 years old and up.
FYI : Camp Tonkawa now has some various sizes of riding helmets.
Medical Release Waivers are required NO EXCEPTIONS.
We have a swimming pond, so bring provisions to enjoy.
NOTE : All classes have a minimum number of registrants to make or sorry to say it will be cancelled. So bring your friends and tell everyone you know. Some classes are listed but are not currently on the schedule for the upcoming year. If your group has an interest we can schedule a date for you.
